Listening Room # 10 and 20: DJ Culture / Tribute to the dancefloor ...

All playlists in the order of ...

Set Axel

Axel: Why are you agreed to participate in this project?
Axel: I am obliged for I have organized this thing! Come on, we really have fun!

1/Elastic Reality Cassa de X (Deep Dish Records) 1994
This song, I love for over 15 years. For me it is perfect for an evening start. I have the honor of being the first and I think we have a particular song to open the ball. Not too fast, too slow. This group is the project of Brian Transeau, a producer of electronic music which there was much talk at the time. He is still active but there he was on top of his career. Apparently, this song is about sex: the home of X. It's good to think a little sex on the dancefloor. This disc is released on the label of Deep Dish, a duo Iranian-American ... I love (cf. infra)

2/Deep Dish presents Prana The Dream (Deep Dish Records) 1994
Another project by Brian Transeau, but this time it is a true collaboration with Sharam and Dubfire (Deep Dish duo, who some years later the world remix). As Cassa de X, I love this song and dance. It is simple but the beats slightly metallic, which gives this piece a timeless ... He talks about the dream world ... another important ingredient of the dancefloor ... Let yourself go!

3/Orbital Impact (Internal) 1993
Long story links this piece and my humble journey niteclubber: I saw this group dancing 60,000 people headlining the Glastonbury festival. I was barefoot. I was drinking water source area (a shoe to my car in London had attached my budget alcohol) and I felt transported into another dimension. Since then, this piece is part of me. It was programmed at the first listening room on the space ... It had to be tonight ...

4/Ulf Lohmann Because (Thomas / Mayer remix) (Kompakt)
A simple piece of major label in Cologne, already proposed in the listening room devoted to this wonderful city. 120 BPM (beats per minute) is more than a landmark, a true philosophy. I love ...

5/Matthew Dear You could smell it was me (Ghostly International) 2010
discovered Monday night at his concert, I could not resist: the title (clever play on words between smell - and smell- spell - spell) indicates that the DJ is one who casts a spell on you and makes you sweat ... This piece is completely geared towards the dancefloor magic ...

6/yr Der Beat Funk (Different Recording) 1999
This song can wake the dead For over 10 years. Unable to feign weariness. Your feet will lead you gently whisper to the dancefloor and you run. Resist is useless! Discovered in Spain, tested live at KultuurKafee. From all good!

7/Gabinete El calor del amor Caligari in a bar (EMI-Odeon) 1986
true spearhead of some new wave scene English Gabinete Caligari has been active since 1981. After starting music with a very dark (limit Joy Division in the language of Cervantes), they revisit their origins with panache. This song has always been one of my classics. I passed very late, when everyone had abused cerveza and vino tinto.

8 / Los Fabulosos Cadillacs El Matador (Columbia) 1994
they come from Argentina. They offer the world Matador in 1994. And the world succumbs. Nothing to add!

9/Dalaras-Bregovic KI NA ΣE ΘEΛΩ (Minos-EMI) 1997
a Balkan version of the famous traditional piece again (and immortalized on the dance floor) by Rachid Taha. Discovered in his time, by my friend Jerome Coche before anyone else, this song is one sq ust. It allows the approximation of body and soul. Yep, the dancefloor is also a matter of metaphysics ...

10/Stromae House'llelujah (Mosaert / Vertigo) 2010
Do not shout too soon! Do not lynch me! Hat for the little guy who (re) put Belgium on the European dance floors. Then dancing, this ode to carthartiques aspects of dance has created the biggest surprise this year. Pleasant surprise as his concert Tuesday night we attended a family (a first): a cover of Damn Damn duet with Arno and a version of his hit with a virtual orchestra ... I'll put you through
also because I find the parallels he makes between music and religion relevant. The nightclubs are not they the new temples (with scholarships)?

Set Yves

Axel: Why are you agreed to participate in this project?

Yves: Because ... I enjoy sharing music that I love and share my enthusiasm for this music.
If I move over, I feel that another move as above.
And it gay moving music for the holidays ... and celebrate the anniversary this Thursday, December 16, 2010 20 ° of your listening room "dance"
is tof! Introduction

Once there selection, there challenge .. choose their "top 10" music "dance" or 1 hour DJ, this is a great challenge!
By diving into my disco, I found dozens ... but those are for me tonight reflects the click:
hear the song, I get up and I move! It is that moment of immediacy for a song makes me dance. Whatever the group, lyrics.
In a moment I send you positive music, creators of chills, to party! Songs "Peace & Noise" (Patti Smith)
disk changer for holiday parties essentially I offer you a sample tinged pop / rock because it's still my favorite! Go Axel
thank you for this wonderful opportunity and honor ... ! Happy birthday to the (10th) and 20th House of listening!

1 / Faithless - Insomnia - Monster Mix - 1996
Powerful Sound, chills going up, the memory of a concert in Werchter in 2001 ... the whole plain was dancing!
Their lead track here in version "monster" ... terrible intro!

2 / Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl - from compilation "singles collection" - 2008
The song to start the business .. Call the DJ who brings the Girls and Boys on the track. A
group that I know of only a few pieces ... I not even see their heads to the brothers ...
Let's go!

3 / Pierre Henry - Psyche Rock - 1966
The first piece rock on which I mounted on a stage ... a show or primary caregiver, where I was the moon ...
What song ... Pure Energy with experimental sounds of the 60s'. Here the original version ... remixed many times thereafter.
I (re) saw Pierre Henry in 1998 Bota ... a character!
Reminder: music composed for the Ballet of the twentieth century / Maurice Bejart - Mass for the time being ... I have not seen ;-(

4 / Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil - 1969 - Live at Madison Square in New York
Was a Rolling Stones ... A live because that's where they are strongest!
A piece of the big time ... but for me it's always their heyday ... must see, it's party on stage, they have fun!
And Charlie Watts, drummer my fetish ... well you guessed it, a favorite!
And terrible to play the drums!

5 / Status Quo - Caroline - 1973
With the Stones, it is the 2 + old rock band still "life" in action!
Status Quo from beginning to end ... but what tempo ... Day also on stage! One of their best song! From
BoogiePopRock, simple effective ... Rock'n roll!

6 / Deus - Roses - 1996 - Album "In a Bar, Under The Sea" Place
the Belgian! Deus jostled in the 90's the view of Belgian rock ...
+ Not known group but for me the best ... A quiet intro, but already full of energy with this guitar is repetitive, the strings squeak
and the voice of Tom Barman goes up ...
Even in writing this text, I have chills going up ... and it goes up and it goes ...
the song is really "anti-dance" but what a fish when we dance on it ... it always reminds me of evenings for Tat '... there, do not bother to ask,
dancing, running jumps! Let yourself go!

7 / Vive La Fete - Nuit Blanche - 2003 - Album "Nuit Blanche"
Return to low ... Dany Mommens Deus leaves and creates this group with Els Pinoo displaced orbits mixing celebration françaisenglishnedrelands, 80's sound to the Cure.
Again a group on stage in great shape. And then 2 characters ... and Els!

8 / The Tin Tings - Great DJ - 2008 - album "We Started Nothing"
An English duo that brings something new late 2000s, but inspired by ... Blondie why not. A
as a circumstance ... and who does not forget in the words that music is first case of instruments well damn!
Fishing and female voice ... nothing like it! Their first album ... the 2nd should be released?

9 / Rachida Brakni - I love watching the guys - 2009 - Compil 'Madame loves "
A nod to" I love watching the Line "by Patrick Coutin ... but girl version ... this time it is not "breasts that are swollen by the desire to live" ... listen ... A great piece
taken by Rachida Brakni, French actress and she is here on a compilation made actresses showing French pop songs ... nice!

10 / Orchestre National de Barbès - Alaoui - in the years 90 ... - Album "Live"
Here is the discovery of Morocco in 1989 and the passion that ensued ... not a traditional Moroccan music but a "tip of Africa lost at the foot of the Sacred Heart" (dixit ONB)
Orchestra National de Barbes, a group that manages to forget the borders and to bring the feel of his "corn"
A piece that I spend time each evening and is a celebration ... one more! Needed a little "world" anyway ...

11 / Starsailor - To The Floor floor - in the 2000s ...
A memory of a ball of July 14, 2006 in Drôme with a live band - Arcades - which took over the song! Ambiance ... And
then rediscover it in hard ... is the kind of song that gives the fishing ... trrrrremendous intro again ... I'm not hard ...
Otherwise apart from that ... Starsailor??

12 / Underworld - Dirty - 1993 - Compil 'underware 1992-2002 "
To move in any direction, it comes from everywhere ... nothing to say it's felt ...
From raw, tribal, and then suddenly paused ...

13 / Boney M - You gotta home - 1979 - Compil 'Boney M The Best Of "
And no you will not hit" Barbara Streisand "a hit that now and I love ... strongly Eve!
I put the "replica" of 1979 by original Boney M. .. and yes my children ... were wham! To please
Axel, a small replica philosophical
"Nothing is lost, nothing is created!" Is that ...?

Set Francois / Space Cookie

Oh, it's frustrating to have to limit his selection to ten pieces "preferred", where hundreds of tracks would hardly suffice to account for the its range of tastes and heart strokes. The main idea was to vary the pleasures without being limited to one style, while maintaining consistency. And combine classics to the latest news. One slip and jazz to electro, to rock, post-punk, soul and much more easily classifiable ... Of course, I turned my list in every sense, I changed a hundred times, to finally decide because he had to. So my apologies to the Specials, Go! Team Sonics, Empire Projecting Penny, Le Tigre, Syrup, Mr. Scruff, ESG, Bees, Althea & Donna, Flying Lizards and many others, to be finally excluded from my list for purely arbitrary ...

1. Buddy Rich The Beat Goes On (Blue Note, 1967)

We start with the swing waving this piece of jazz drummer Buddy Rich, resumption of a song by Sonny & Cher. It starts gently with the charming voice of Cathy, the daughter of Buddy Rich, and it ends with an explosion of drums and brass backfiring.

2. Pilooski AAA (I Get RVNG, 2010)

Instigator of the series "Dark & Lovely" digging up everything on vinyl music known quirks of melancholy, Pilooski has become a remixer and a re-publisher must, very eclectic tastes (Frankie Valli, CAN, The The, LCD Soundsystem, Dee Edwards, ...). AAA Jamaica takes us to a strange rocked by a female voice captivating and carried by a hypnotic rhythm.

3. Yse Saint Laur'ant Abah Dabah Say (Popular People's Front Edit) (White Label, 2010)

I like songs that make us lose our bearings and takes us into unexplored areas. This song is totally mysterious: it is clearly an electro edit of an old song but can not find its origin: either this intriguing "Yse Saint Laur'ant" nor the language sung. As for the Popular People's Front, it is a collective that publishes edits in its' Limited Series ", Which comes this song.

4. Talking Heads Slippery People (Cosmic Boogie Mix) (EMI, 1984)

This is a song that I passed frequently in my younger years as a DJ, in its "live" from the album (and the film) Stop Making Sense. Talking Heads remains today a particularly pioneering and influential. "Slippery People" celebrates the marriage of white funk and African music. It is issued in its recent "cosmic boogie edit", which prolongs the pleasure.

5. Chicken Lips Ron Silver (200 Big Version) (Lipservice, 2010) from an Active

decade, the British Chicken Lips is most famous for his electro hit, "He Not In." "Ron Silver" is a frenzied disco funk, directly inspired by punk-funk and disco-not-disco of the early 80s.

6. Liquid Liquid Optimo (Optimo Mix) (99 Records, 1983, Domino, 2008 for the remix)

Liquid Liquid is one of those groups whose influence is inversely proportional to the number of discs they have published, in this case a EP's out to handle the early 80's but no album. Their music is mainly made up of rhythm and bass, which collide funk, africa, brazil and no-wave New York. Their most famous song, "Cavern" was looted by Grand Master Flash's "White Lines (Do not Do It)" and the trial that ensued led to the bankruptcy of the two labels concerned ... When the reissue of their work in 2008, the label Domino has asked the Scottish duo Optimo to remix the track which obviously had inspired their name. The result is very compelling.

7. Munk feat. James Murphy & Nancy Wang Kick Out the Chairs (WhoMadeWho Remix) (Gomma, 2004)

It was difficult to my selection without including one way or another, James Murphy, who with his band LCD Soundsystem and DFA label (Rapture, Hercules and Love Affair, Juan Maclean, ...) has best embodied in recent years the marriage between rock and dance, past and present. He was invited here to lend his voice to a piece of the German Munk remixed by the Danish collective WhoMadeWho, which transforms everything it touches into small bomb groovy.

8. Tom Tom Club Wordy Rappinhood (12''version) (Island, 1981)

Comprised of two members of Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club in 1981 has issued two nuggets restless with "Genius of Love" and the "Wordy Rappinghood, which have remained timeless classics.

9. Pitchtuner Shocco (Doxa Records, 2003)

Pitchtuner is a Germano-Japanese group, based in Berlin and Osaka. Sung in Japanese, is a wonderful Shocco condensed energy punk, funk and electro hybrid crossed.

10. Shirley Ellis The Clapping Song (London Records, 1965)

full circle, we went from 60s to come back eventually, with what is one of my classics from DJ's vast "Clapping Song" by Shirley Ellis, or how to dance with a smile, by plunging back into childhood.

Set Jacques

Axel: Why are you agreed to participate in this project? Jacques
: Specializes in anything and almost everything an amateur in music, I'm even less with a true club culture. Moreover, not being a natural, very applied, rather borrow my sets of hooky tracks who, through twists and turns, imposed on me from major stylistic differences. This show gives me a little special Musical precisely the opportunity to offer an hour of music diverse, even sloppy, but nevertheless has a thin thread. With you to discover!

1) Yellow Magic Orchestra - Absolute Ego Dance (Alpha)
Unable to start my sequence without paying tribute to the trio capital in the evolution of Japanese pop hitherto still very influenced by the Western canons. Pioneer Electronics in their country, the group has played with the signs, combining love of modernism foil and taste for the exotic flavors of lying, from the exuberance of austerity. As such, from their second album 'Solid State Survivor' released in 1978, a theme mixes electro-pop with a traditional Okinawan dance, an elegant Humorous and build the integrated circuit in kimono.

2) Abel Zeno - No Soué The O (Sound Way)
in vogue in the West Indian dances in the late sixties, will tumbélé so ephemeral attempted merger between the popular music of Guadeloupe and Martinique (beguine and gwa-ka) and external influences (Congolese rumba, the Haitian compas rhythms and Cuban). This must be removed as particularly the saxophonist Abel Zeno King punches in music at that time. Go ahead
Zeno is good!

3) Juicy Fruit Jenny Wa Gokigen Nanami (Columbia)
The career of this group Japan was ephemeral and unobtrusive, a handful of albums to the very characteristic signature: surf themes, new wave and techno-pop with acid by the candid and childlike voice Okuno Astuko. But this confusion was born of this (free translation) 'Jenny is in a bad mood', perhaps one of the most popular titles and taken the history of Japanese pop and that could Lio among us take over.

4) Andreas Dorau und die Marinas - Fred von Jupiter (Ata Tak)
They swoon for his charm and his flattering muscles, Marinas. The Jovian Fred, which our juvenile singers (they were 13 years old at the time of registration of the song) singing the praises in 1981, was none other than Andreas Dorau at the time barely older than themselves (17 years) but already the author of a delicious pop album thumbnail served by good synths markets and whose formula (dada humor + punk spirit) will be found applied in other artists stamped Neue Deutsche Welle (German New Wave), such as Trio and his famous "Da Da Da ',

5) Xeno and Oaklander - Mail (Weird Records)
Here is a bit of Belgium which is exported to the United States. For this melody frigid and phlegmatic, lined with arpeggiator and drum machines, markers sound typical of the cold wave practiced 25 years ago in our region and in France (Trisomy 21, Siglo XX, Polyphonic Size) is actually a recent bill, New York addition and parade today under the term minimum wave.

6) Rocca - Baby Mine (Myspace) n
discovered 3 years ago the chances of my wanderings through the pages of the community site MySpace, this track thick synths and rhythmic operatic designed by the young Swedish duo Rocca became one of the most regular guests of my turntables. 'Baby Mine' is a perfect example of this obsession retrospective of the foil 80 (Moroder, Trevor Horn) through much of contemporary pop music production.

7) Magnus International - Kosmetik (Full Pupp)
From a compilation edited by Full Pupp, the label of the artist Norwegian Prins Thomas, the piece operates a dance vein, albeit well-oiled (a space disco beat, a theme and some electro synth to bring up the emotion) but played with undeniable elegance and which perfectly meets the specifications of any self-respecting Floorfiller

8) Lizzi Descloux Mercier - Fire (ZE Records) Best known
through his hit of 1983 inspired South African 'Where are the Gazelles', the singer has been one of the muses of stylish ZE Records, a label run by Franco-American Michel Esteban and his companion who fits the crossroads of punk, no- Wave New York and disco hybrid musical form that summarizes the oxymoron disco not disco. Here, she breathes irresistible pulsation 'Fire' Oldies of Arthur Brown, English singer whose eccentric fell short history will remember his fondness for stagings Grand Guignol. .

9) Rapper Harlem World Crew - Rappers Convention (Hero)
In the late seventies, before the DJ and his turntables overwrites the kind with all his weight and his scratches, hip hop was still speaking with accompanying live musicians providing musical support, mostly funk and disco, out of MC's to innervate the piece by inventiveness and dynamism of the flow. This irresistible
recording of 1980 unfolds behind the Micro Four rappers who were active members as residents of New York club Harlem World.

10) Grimes - Devon (Arbutus)
And finally, dance company or Leviton Claire Boucher of Montreal, whose ritornello would once ethereal looks good on 4AD, the label of the Cocteau Twins. Army his laptop, this musician and illustrator (that period) barely out of adolescence has already delivered two albums in 2010 to produce tentative, small trials unfinished fragments dream to many reminiscences thrown on disk and Nebula is a very personal sound.

Axel: Why are you agreed to participate in the draft room to listen?

Dance is the philosophy in action [1]

Bedroom (s) plays # 10 and 20: DJ Culture / Tribute to the dancefloor to Congress Thursday, December 16 from 19h to midnight

Long announced, always postponed, it finally sees the day: a listening room different , which celebrates what it meant to criticize: the dancefloor as the sole place of collective listening (the concert is something else).
For this evening, I met five DJs (amateurs, professionals? Not matter) and I asked them to choose the 10 songs they preferred to dance. They are free to interpret this rule as they wish.
The choice of pieces will be argued on a giant screen (no booklet, so). The set of each DJ will not exceed 1 hour. Maya Cox, Jacques Neuville, Cardoen Yves François Dubuisson agreed to meet this challenge (I will be the fifth). I thank them very hard.
As a small party, this event will bring together workers from all sides for a kind of Afterwork Party, cocktail underground happenings dedicated to DJ culture, etc. 5 hours of uninterrupted music, dancing and argued
... Note: This chamber Listening is obviously not restricted to younger pretext that it tribute to the DJ Culture (age cumulative DJs tonight totals two centuries!) Be curious, thank you for passing to say hello!

Program:
19h: Opening Doors and bar. DJ set by Axel.
20h - 24h: Yves Francois, Jacques, and Maya.
24h: Closing

House listening # 22: Masters and Disciples / school and its challenges in terms of music (series Para / / ELE)

Introduction:
Second part of the evening This room listening to music heard some of the themes that motivate us as founders of the association RED / Educational Laboratory. If you were not there to drink, get fast explanatory paper. We need you, your contacts, your ideas and your enthusiasm.
Tonight, Francis and I are going to offer you a musical journey that first hears seek your schoolboy memory (this is the class of Master Francis) and then question what experience and confront the current challenges (ie the class of Mr. Axel).
Thank Congress for hosting us once again, thank you to Francis lend me a hand. Thank you to you to be there. Create an association, it takes time: CDs have taken a little late. I apologize.

and Masters students: Tracklist

Master Class Francis
1 / Intro Drive 33t long
As an introduction, a little reminiscent of memories these discs whose stories have brightened our early years of school ...

2 / Parks Four Tet (Domino)
Kirian Hebden, aka Four Tet, is considered one of the pioneers of "folktronica" blend of acoustic instruments and experimental electronics. "Parks" evokes release with school children rushing in sunny parks to run after ...

3 / Catherine Demongeot Zazie dans le metro (Naïve)
This is a short dialogue from the film made by Louis Malle after the work of Raymond Queneau, Zazie in which we explained the reasons for his vocation as a teacher. Tasty.

4 / Takagi Masakatsu Com March (Karaoke Kalk)
musician and videographer Japanese, Takagi Masakatsu carries poetic musical miniatures made of delicate sounds, sound effects and voices. "Come March" takes us to a Japanese kindergarten, with toy instruments, his childish prattle and playful atmosphere.

5 / Dansen Met Groene Groenten Machinefabriek (Type)
Machinefabriek is the project of Dutch musician Rutger Zuyderveldt, production thriving (he released a new record every month). Preview of 45 t "Lendelietjes", this piece turns a cassette lesson Dutch phrases and absurd charming jingle mail.

6 / Aquarius Boards Of Canada (Warp)
Group comprising Scottish duo, Boards of Canada creates abstract electronic music (few songs) and atmospheric, heavily linked to the world of childhood, environmental concerns and mathematical theories. Stemming from the first album Music Has the Right to Children, Aquarius evokes the lessons of colors ("orange") and numbers (as a result of mechanical figures stalk so) under the amused laughter of toddlers.

7 / Laurent Garnier Playground (F Communications)
Pope of the French electronics, resident DJ of the legendary Hacienda in Manchester, Laurent Garnier has recently turned more introspective productions, far from the imperatives of the dancefloor. The appropriately named "child's play" unfolds on a martial rhythmic ambient sounds from a playground, to finish on a famous nursery rhyme, to a chorus ...

8 / Rappers Delight Club Hum (2008)
We end this selection with the gratifying result of a musical project directed to Glenallan Elementary School in Silver Spring, where one learns to children 5 to 12 years to express themselves through rap and rhythm work, just after classes. The recorded songs were posted on their myspace site and quickly encountered a large success. The British band Go Team! (Highly recommended) invited them on their second album released in 2008 on the song "Universal Speech". "I'm rappin 'Let's goooooo! "

Class Master Axel
1/Britten The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra (Teldec Classic) performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra under the direction Sir Andrew Davis
Here in the House to listen, we like Britten. It is already apparent in either selection. Today is a different story. This piece is the piece by teaching excellence. It was created to accompany a film that presents the various instruments making up the orchestra. For this noble educational goal, Britten takes a theme and fugue from Purcell Abdelazar, or the revenge of the Moor. The 13 variations account each time an instrument (or group of instruments). In the fugue, the instruments are their entries in the same order as in the variations. We will not, unfortunately, the end (except those who have the CD). This piece epitomizes the tone democratic Britten gives his work: the individual takes precedence over the collective, each player is as a soloist ... We would like to see these principles in our classrooms.

2/Miwon Vertizontal (City Centre-Offices)
For the founding members of RED / Educational Laboratory (sorry I like this phrase a bit pompous), this piece has a manifesto. Indeed, one of our main axioms of work is based on the notion of "transversality." In the classroom, the teacher is compelled to choose between the vertical relationship ("Authority master's premium ") and the horizontal relationship (" the teacher as friend "). These two requirements lead to an impasse. The cross-sectional relationship (according vertizontale Miwon) is a position that refers back to back these two approaches. The work on roles in a marked specifically allows for real listening and consideration of the student. The student is becoming an intelligence against intelligence itself become a teacher. The latter is there to provide the framework and learning. The sheer verticality smacks of fundamentalism, pure horizontality of anarchism. The concept of transversality in its institutional use is a large loan from Felix Guattari (RIP).

3/Beatkitten Bored? (Swim)
This group is a mystery about the mysterious label Colin Newman (member of the influential group of the 80 Wire, incidentally producer of Minimal Compact, Malka Spiegel's husband, also of Minimal Compact). He does not speak to school but by asking the boredom, I feel justified to offer you tonight. The young woman who spoke seemed to look out the window (this could be the window of a local school?) And describes the world as she sees it. As a way to kill another time. Students bored? Not so sure! Students feel bad school when she is deadly, smith in their desires and their bodies. The schools could be seen in another way: as an area of intervention for its users. Specific actions within and outside the school walls make endearing. When the users (teachers, students, educators, maintenance staff, ...) are invited to participate, to intervene, links are created, are gateways, meaning flows. Unless you're bored when you are an actor of his own training. Wim Delvoye says, "better to be that the virus get sick." Alain Badiou: "This is not because we rail against an institution that has ceased to love." There is a real work to do to make school more exciting and institutional emancipation from the yoke.

4/Victor Bermon Stacked notebooks (Hefty Records)
After his studies, the risk is for a student to see his work as a stack of books he has taken twelve years to complete patiently to be able to burn today ' hui. The solution is to work not to fill books but to collect traces. The philosopher Michel Foucault (one of our major references) has a word for it he borrows from Seneca hypomnemata the media or from memory. Traces collected patiently for their sentimental value and heuristic [2] . Compiled in a book, they can make sense after the fact. A reworking of recollection. Fragments of meaning, away from the famous nursery rhyme books that invites us to burn.

5/Radiant Idiot Revenge of the Phoney Youth (Vertical Form)
I love the name of this group and this song. Both apply so well to our discussion tonight. The idiot bright, is it the student or the teacher? And this contrast of youth false, simulated setter, artificial (as many translations as I borrow from my Robert & Collins), how to interpret it? They say much bad about our young people in the press and to some reactionary literature. Take the word "Dummy". Who's fake? Accusing? Facticity threatens all of us at every stage of life. The idiot radiant is also another way of saying that happiness is not always where you think. The young are accused falsely, he takes revenge, it was safe!

6/Hanne Hukkelberg Seventeen (Nettwerk)
We talked about youth and artificial, in the guise of gentle pop song, this song addresses a very serious matter: some gilded youth who, failing to shine on in school, chose the path of easy recognition. Young becomes the subject of a master. He became the king of cash "," Fed is champagne. " For Hanne Hukkelberg, it is just a puppet who does not know. Hanne Hukkelberg comes from Norway and his group uses instruments similar readymades of Marcel Duchamp: a bicycle wheel, oven and fridge.

8/Mi And Au Study (Young God Records)
Another group that we've heard listening to the rooms. Remember this disc was recorded in a small cottage in snowy Finland, before being mixed in New York to ultimately succeed on the label of the great Michael Gira. Study invites us to ride the wave of knowledge. Do not forget what was done, a sense of what happens out of hiding: an ode to school. Finally, Mi And L'Au enjoin us to "wake up tomorrow! .
The name of the label-Young God-(young god) is also an invitation to cherish our youth.

9/Klaus & Kinski Mama, No quiero ir al colegio (wild sow Musica)
In the land of pop music of Spain, Juan Sanchez is my master. He is the man who danced in the Plaza of Altea for 20 years and I would like to pay tribute. It was he who advised me this CD this summer. A native of Murcia, Klaus & Kinski is a duet that is reminiscent of Jeanette (remember Porque te vas, music, film Cria cuervos) and Cathy Claret (Loli-Lolita in the 80s). This pop ballad that we share the anguish of one who has to go to school. A girl does not grow, no work, not die (which shortcut semantics amazing!) Marina lends her sweet voice. And me, I want to contradict it: stay home and sleep is just to die too.

listening room # 22 Masters and Disciples / The school and its challenges in terms of music (series Para / / ELE) on Wednesday November 17 at Congress

Basically, the school's task to reveal the child himself. In the last room listening, I announced the forthcoming establishment of an NPI-related issues at school. RED asbl born that evening and it was around this auspicious birth that will focus the next room listening. You are invited to this event twice.
The school is probably the most important thing for society as it prepares everything. It trains men and women, citizens, artists, entrepreneurs, etc.. Cut the branches of the school is to condemn the tree to stay at the bottom of a small courtyard in the shade, weak and muffled.
Now that the school runs smoothly everywhere, it would hide its face. The school is the crucible of inequality it strives to maintain. The school breaks, sometimes the enthusiasm as a real steamroller.
This new listening room intends to ask some questions bearing on modern music.
What young people want? What is school? What type of luggage out there? Here is a series (non-exhaustive) list of questions that we address this evening.
The evening's program:
19 pm: Cocktail Launch RED asbl; in the presence of the founders
20 pm: Possible snack and a drink at the bar of Congress
21 am: House listening mixed live by Axel and François

The Structure of musical revolutions: music and science (Para Series / / EELS)

Good evening and welcome to this 21 th Listening Room.
In these times of uncertainty (political, economic, ...), the average person likes to have a base on which to rest. A core of certainty. One way of seeing the world reassures. For some it is religion that is this horizon of meaning (the subject of our previous listening room), for others, the so-called spirits "Cartesian" is the science that fills this role.
Science discovers, confirms, makes possible: the litany of verbs that reassurance is long.
Opposite, there are those that science scares. The philosopher Martin Heidegger talked to him (before sinking in his delirium pro-Nazi) to arrest the world. Putting the world to our service, leaving him to lose his poetry, his magic.
We will tonight explore these two facets of science. As in a previous listening room devoted Revealed Corps (during an evening-opening to see the painting of Stephen Lengrand the Bunker), I will offer you a ride. We'll go to the Big Bang to the emergence of life, from mammals to infection, drifts back to the slow ... All these theories are "paradigms": they are true until the moment they leave room for more ...
Bon voyage and see you in 45 minutes! Thank you for listening ... enthusiastic

1/Intro Tracklist: Madrugada Eterna The KLF (KLF Communications) At the dawn of the 90s, Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond install their ambient soundtrack to curious minds. KLF stands for Kopyright League Front and our two buddies fighting for the free use of sound. We're still in the infancy of music and dance, the year after, our two buddies squat the planet with their album The White Room. This excerpt puts us in the miracle of eternity (if my translation is correct) and comes from the album Chill Out. Not bad for a start ...

2/Fisk We Saw Orion Industries (Highpoint Lowlife) The planets of the solar system we place immediately before the question of the origin of the intoxicating world. Theory Big Bang is, I think, the paradigm in this regard. I recently read the fascinating things about the topic I will not venture to summarize for you except one: if you take a spaceship and fly you straight to the infinite well ... after a while ( very long time science) you return to the starting point ... I do not know if that reassures me ... It looks like the formation of a government. Fisk Industries is the musical vehicle Mat Ranson, a "visual artist" based in London.

3/Future Sound Of London Lifeforms (Path 1) (EBV / Virgin) Active since the 90s, this group of ambient music is comprised of Garry Cobain and Brian Dougan. They are still active, especially on the web. A small detour to their site takes you into their world: graphic design, music, community, etc.. The acronym means of their label EBV Energy Brain & Violence. Squatting directly in this virtual world (they were among the first to give a concert broadcast from the studio but in the virtual world thanks to the then emerging ISDN technology), they gave him his credentials. The song is based Lifeforms double album of the same name. The max, we are 7 paths (path) different. The biological metaphor (and its parallel with the canvas) is a great source of inspiration. Here we find the voice of Elizabeth Frazer (Cocteau Twins, very influential group in the '80s).

4/Icarus Mutations (Leaf) These life forms are emerging mutate. The cell will become more complex. In a glass of water, living embryos in the grains of sand, worlds ... The music of Sam Britton and Ollie Brown talks about this annoying tingling. They combine contemporary music to sound manipulation, plus a dynamic electro-acoustic.

5/They Might Be Giants Mammal (Elektra) We are in 1992, the year chosen by NASA to be the International Year Space. Well, imagine that tmbg were chosen as "musical ambassadors" of the event. It must be said that these two guys are crazy for science. Their album Apollo 18 was there to testify. Mammal is a hymn to the vibrant world of mammals and also in life. The bat (the only flying mammal), cat, dolphin, dog, koala, bear etc. ... all are invited to celebrate this miracle: the blood that flows through this mysterious room with four cells: the heart. Nod to 2010, European Year of Biodiversity.

6/Manitoba Mammals Vs Reptiles (The Leaf Label)
Life is struggle, selection. This small tribute to mammals could not last. In this piece, Dan Snaith (Manitoba is the project of one man) we call to order. Faced with us, other realms, other rule. This piece feels confusion, discord. It is from the album Start Breaking My Heart (Electronica Album of the Year 2002 at the Canadian Independent Music Awards).
For Dan, mathematics literally flowing through his veins. Dad, Mom are high-level mathematicians. He chose the arts, but still earned his PhD in mathematics in 2005. His musical project still exists but has had to change name: he was under the threat of a trial of a certain Richard Manitoba (aka "Handsome Dick, ask Ingrid to translate), the leader of The Dictators. Dan's thinking is clear: it is as if The Smiths were a trial for John Smith ... or something like that.

7/Propaganda Dr. Mabuse (ZTT) In 1984, when the strike hit my teens, I have not seen the film by Fritz Lang. Yet the strangeness of the video, the novelty of her will leave a strong impression on the clay of my young mind. 25 years later, a visit by two masterpieces of the cinema will in a real pizza oven the same dough, much less young. Dr. Mabuse, the man who, by force of his thought, control the entire underworld of the city. His ghostly apparitions were already a feat for film (itself a derivative of science devoted to the study of movement), but the man clearly said "shit" to science. Sell his soul to the devil the temptation has always been great. Propaganda offers a rereading of this topic in a pearl-pop, which has lost none of his eternal youth (another myth: Faust, Dorian Gray, etc.).

8/Hᾰkan Libdo This Looks infected, does not it? (Musick to play in the club) vs Naama Iannis Xenakis (Erato) performed by the Ensemble Xenakis led by Huub Kerstens. Here I propose an unlikely encounter: The movement of my hand will syncopated mix of electronic music Hᾰkan Libdo that of Iannis Xenakis.
Let's start with younger, based in Stockholm, this great man of electronic music has published more than 250 projects (albums, singles, remixes, downloads, etc.). It touches everything and has a taste for the covers trash. I took this piece for his next laboratory, dangerous, experimental. We need gloves Rubber hear that stuff. Otherwise, these sounds will attack your ears. It takes Dettol, the Isobethadine (oral or ointment - I'm talking about our many representatives of the pharmaceutical world) ...
Facing him, Iannis Xenakis, whose song has just been infected by the sounds of the cadet. Naama means "flow" and is based on the sound of the harpsichord. I transcribed the commentary track in English (you will see: it's very easy to translate but not to understand): Naama calls for "periodic structures thanks to a group of transformations and exahedric stochastic distributions. We can discuss later, using a small beer, the meaning of it all.

9/Schaeben Voss & The World Is Crazy (Jürgen Paape remix) (Kompakt) Its label does not tell us much about this duo: Heiko Voss and Thomas Schaebens loves to dance. I think what interests me is the title! The world has gone mad. Speed, testing, the frantic search of profitability ... The sound pulse! A slick synth moves, your foot starts to warm up his role metronomic. You want to dance but you remember that you're listening to a chamber. That's the sound Kompakt! [2] Slow down. A paradigm shift is needed ...

10/Headhunter Paradigm Shift (Tempa) This piece is based on the theme of this new listening room. I borrow the title of the book Thomas Kuhn The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. For Kuhn, a theory is true for a certain period of time. After a change of mentalities and ways of seeing (he calls it a paradigm), we change the criteria of truth. This disc of young Headhunter (Bristol) is called Nomad and was recorded in different cities where he was invited. Other tracks on the CD are also largely inspired by science: Lifeform, Prototype, Technopolis Physics Impulse Headhunter etc. ... is there a player Khun? I like to think this assumption ... The Dubstep music inspired by the scientific literature that could be better for a kid who could be my son.

11/Twisted Science Theme from slow (Lo recording productions) On the site of Lo Rec, there is little info on this artist. Lo people describe their label as "providers of fine esoteric music Since 1995." And it's true that the label is well respected (even if confidential). Graphically, the covers are worth the detour. This CD, bought on sale, has never really been listened to by my ears yet curious. It is pretty indigestible. Thanks to you, thanks to the project name (Twisted Science, I could not at least try), I came across this little gem: This ode to slowness that is for me an invitation to observe the phenomena (the handful of sand Gombrowicz's quote ...). The rooms are listening vehicle decay and rediscovery of what was home ...

Love The Smell Of Nylon

For or against television in the bedroom feng shui?

What
you want to sleep or you love, your room is not designed to accommodate television. Quite the contrary ... Television is time consuming. In a Sieci, we are from 9 to 7 hours of sleep and studies show that television is greatly responsible. Another problem: some people use television as a sleeping pill and think that television is beneficial because without it, no sleep.

An interesting study was conducted at Osaka University, Japan. It involved 5,875 Japanese who have agreed to measure the impact of television and computers in their sleep time. And the result is already known: more time devoted to a screen , more sleep is not so much affecté.Ce hours of sleep that are affected that the quality rest. And as this quality can be measured by any value, then the Japanese described their feelings based on the number of hours they spent before a screen. What changes with the increase in hours is not really the number of hours you sleep, but demand and efficiency. Overall, respondents were clear that intensive use computer, especially with Internet, or television, decreased sensation in need of rest. Moreover, people awoke the morning after evenings spent browsing for example, had regularly feel they have less sleep than usual, and generally felt they had less sleep would dormi.Un less refreshing in terms of hours spent sitting in front of a screen? It is the general conclusion of this study, which provides some interesting figures:
29% of light users (less than an hour and a half) attribute their sleep problems to screens
40% of average users (between half past one and three hours) indicate the same thing
54% of heavy users (more than three hours) indicate the same
Overall, 38% of users believe that going on the Internet late at night causing sleep disorders, 25% cons when a télévision. On can easily verify that the increase in time spent watching screen really enhances the feeling of sleep disorder: the latter is pushed and seems less repair (the actual effectiveness is not proven, these are the only sensations that are detected). Regarding the distinction between computer and television, we can estimate that the concentration may play a role on the effect felt. (Source inpact PC)
In addition, the television emits electromagnetic waves that we now measure the impact on our health. The further away from you as possible, totally disconnected and not just in standby when to sleep, surrounded by a few green plants depolluting if you really can not do without it and if its removal from the landscape to create a conflict to 7 on the scale of no return in your marriage!
